The first solo museum exhibition by Palestinian artist, Alexandra Sophia Handal explores aspects of personal and collective memory within the divided city of Jerusalem.
Through a multi-faceted visual language, using film, photography, drawing, painting, printmaking and web interventions she narrates loss, absence, destruction and cultural erasure. Creating new cartographies of knowledge, Handal combines extensive historical research with a poetic approach.
The exhibition is curated by Alia Rayyan, Director of The Palestinian Art Court in East Jerusalem. The exhibition is part of IMAGES 2016 and is realized in cooperation with the Danish Centre for Culture and Development (CKU).
